Tennis teams pull wins after heated matches

The junior varsity tennis team won several matches at the tournament at Westwood High School on March 22.

Sophomore Josh Pevoto won first in A consolation singles, juniors Kimberly Mai and Pooja Pisharody placed third A consolation doubles, and juniors Anne Cao and Yunji Oh took second in B doubles. Sophomore Tiffany Sawruk won first place in B Draw for girls’ singles.

“It was so hot,” Cao said. “There were a lot of great schools.”

The team attended practices regularly in preparation for tournaments. The diligence paid off as multiple members won their matches.

The varsity team attended another tournament March 31. The tournament took place at Leander, Vista Ridge and Rouse high schools.

Freshman Kimberly Tran placed second in girls’ singles, and Andrew Huynh and Jeanie Truitt won consolation mixed doubles. Tran advanced to regionals, which will take place in Waco on April 19.
