The girls varsity soccer team lost 2-0 to Vandegrift on Tuesday, Jan. 28. The team now has three district losses this season.

“Vandegrift is one of the hardest teams,” senior forward Kendall Steele said. “So I’m proud of us for playing up at their level, even though we lost.”

Goalkeeper Erin Williams made eight saves, and defender Reagan Reitmeyer was the player of the game.

“We’ve been playing really hard teams recently,” Reitmeyer said. “Our next games should be easier, and we’ve got a plan to win.”

Steele has been working on her communication on the field, and she constantly encouraged her teammates to keep going and keep pushing for the win.

“Our coach is really passionate,” Steele said. “Seeing how committed he is motivates us to do better and be better.”

The team’s next game is against Cedar Ridge on Friday, Feb. 7 at Mcneil  Stadium.

“It was a good opportunity to play against higher level players,” junior Lyssa Frank said. “We fought hard and it really showed on the field.”
