Unique ideas for Valentines day gives students a different idea for what to plan on their special occasion.

Valentine’s Day can be stressful: running around trying to make dinner reservations or getting tickets for a movie and hoping it isn’t sold out, is a lot to deal with for one day. And although those gestures are nice and memorable, why not try something different. Get away from all those ordinary date ideas and try something completely new.The Ceramic Lodge is a studio where people of all ages can paint their own ceramic masterpiece. Starting at under $10, there are different items to choose from such as plates, photo frames and mugs, just to name a few. If you don’t have any ideas on what to paint on your plate or mug,  don’t worry. The studio offers different stencils, stamps and 50 different colors of glaze. They only ask that you pay an $8 studio fee so they can keep providing tools. This is a great way to spend your Valentine’s, decorating and just having fun making your own creation together. The Ceramic Lodge is located at 18 Chisholm Trail Rd, Round Rock 78681. For more information call 512-248-2100 or visit their website at http://www.ceramiclodge.com

Another idea for a Valentine’s date is something inexpensive. Instead of going out, making reservations and fussing with the crowd to get inside the door, why not relax in your own home and enjoy a home-cooked meal that both of you contributed in making. Make a homemade pizza in the shape of a heart and top it off by baking homemade cookies or brownies and decorate them. Put on some fun music to dance to or put on a movie to pass the time while your delicious meal is being cooked.

Now if you are not a romantic dinner by candlelight type of person and you would rather do something productive, spend an evening hiking or biking at the Greenbelt down at Zilker Park. These activities will get you going while having fun enjoying the scenery with your date. The park is free and open to the public. Although it may be cold outside, keeping hydrated is still important to remember, so bring plenty of water. Although this may not be the typical Valentine’s Day date, it’s a unique and fun activity to do together. That’s what Valentines Day is all about, spending time with the one you love.

Another fun activity that you can do with either a date or just your friends is go out to a dance. The Wells Branch community is hosting a free Valentine’s dance. Come dance to a live band with your friends or even a date. There will be snacks provided and roses for the ladies. The dance will be from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Wells Branch Recreation Center, located at Shoreline Drive and Willow Run.
