Book Club poses for a photo during their first meeting of the 2022-2023 school year. Book Club is a student-run organization where students meet once a month to read and discuss the club’s selected book of the month. “The first meeting was amazing,” junior Archita Roy said. “I loved how everyone was really energetic and the atmosphere was really nice. I hope to read every single book we have this year. Everyone should join Book Club.”

The second Book Club meeting will take place on Oct. 20 at 4:30 p.m. in room B211.

Book Club is a student-run organization that meets once a month to read and discuss the club’s selected book of the month. The club began last school year and is sponsored by English teacher Katherine Pound.

“My favorite part about Book Club is that a bunch of readers can come together and talk about something they like doing,” Book Club president, junior Nidhi Warrier said. “Book Club is a place for people to not feel judged for the books they read and find a group of people that are just as excited about them.”

Book Club secretary, junior Catherine Cavazos, believes the club is much more organized and fun in comparison to how it was last school year.

“I think it has a better flow because we have a set foundation for the club and that makes it easier to run,” Cavazos said. “I hope that we have more events this year, like volunteering in the library or a reading picnic. I also want to donate more books.”

Although Book Club is a small organization, new members join each month and offer suggestions on what the club should read next. Students are encouraged by Book Club members to join and participate in reading discussions.

“The first meeting was amazing,” junior and club member Archita Roy said. “I loved how everyone was really energetic and the atmosphere was really nice. I hope to read every single book we have this year. Everyone should join Book Club.”
