HOSA students who qualified from Area 1 competed in the Dallas State Conference April 9-11. Out of the competitors, eight students from McNeil will advance to the national conference held in Anaheim, California.

“I had so much fun at state,” junior Monica Nguyen said. “It was great seeing other HOSA kids from different areas around Texas and my roommates were very supportive helping me prep and study. I hope to have the same great experience at nationals as well.”

The following students will advance to national competition:

Health Education:  Charmi Patel, Nikki Tra, Brittney van der Woude, and Manasa Atyam (third place)

Healthy Lifestyles:  Jeremy Lee (third place)

Medical Law and Ethics:  Saheel Chodavadia (first place)

HOSA Happenings:  Anna Qi and Cathy Nguyen

 Healthcare Issues Exam:  Monica Nguyen

To prepare for the competition, students will do their part.

“I usually read both of my medical law and ethics textbooks before competition,” junior Saheel Chodavadia said. “This year I am really glad I placed first. I will review both of my books as nationals gets closer.”

The trip will not only consist of the competition. Students will also take in the sites.

“I am definitely very excited for Anaheim and especially Disneyland,” Monica Nguyen said. “For my event, I am just studying hard, reviewing for the test and keeping my fingers crossed.”
