Starting in this school year, Round Rock ISD high schools will no longer have final exam exemptions and no longer require cumulative finals or traditional finals week schedules. Instead, students will participate in “end-of-semester learning activities,” although teachers may still choose to give final exams in their classes.
Semester grades will now be calculated using quarter averages only, with Q1 and Q2 making up Semester 1 and Q3 and Q4 making up Semester 2. AP, IB, dual-credit, and EOC exams will not be affected by the changes.
Junior Rhithvik Vuppala said the update gives schools “more flexibility at the end of the semester instead of one set finals schedule for everyone.”
