With finals rapidly approaching, the stress students face can become overwhelming. To prepare students have found suitable ways to study in order to excel while testing.
Finals will be held the week prior to winter break starting on Dec. 16 to Dec. 19. The score received on final exams will be averaged with previous grades from marking period one and two.
“I usually start studying after school the week before,” Senior Heidi Menchaca said. “I take it as what’s most important to me. If it’s on Monday I’m going to study for it first, but at the same time if it’s a class I find more difficult I focus on it more.”
Menchaca believes that although studying is important, it is also necessary to take breaks.
“I hangout with my friends to try and relieve stress,” Menchaca said. “This helps me forget about my finals for a while and when I go back to studying I feel motivated by the hope that it is going to end soon and that it’s almost done.”
Senior Kaedyn Piskorik believes organization during the semester leading to finals is vital when it comes to studying.
“I keep everything organized in my backpack with the different subjects I do so it doesn’t all mush into one area.” Piskorik said.“ I keep the easier stuff in the back and the harder stuff in the front, it’s very beneficial if you stay organized because it pays off in the end.”
Through the finals that junior Luke Ebeling has taken, he believes that establishing a good routine helps improve his overall performance while testing.
“To study I reread my notes and I usually study for 20 minutes and watch tik tok for five minutes, this is what I have found works best for me,” Ebeling said. “ I try to get good sleep the night before so I can stay focused, I also drink caffeine and eat healthy so I feel better while I am studying.”
Ebeling stays encouraged while studying by listening to his favorite song “This Is Me” from The Greatest Showman.
“I sing it to myself every morning when I wake up,” Ebeling said. “It helps me know that I can keep going.”
