Lunch Should Not Be Shortened

Technically, the lunch period itself wasn’t actually shortened, however, lunch did get shorter. There is simply not enough time to eat, there is no time for the walk to and from the lunch period and the lines are too long.

The people who are in charge of the bell schedule started to count the passing period as time for lunch and there are fewer lines at lunch than there were last year and now the lines are longer than ever. I would usually get 20 minutes at least last year after getting my food, now I might get 10 minutes to eat and food ends up just going to waste most of the time.

Some kids have to go all the way from outside in the portables to the cafeteria and that walk can be as long as five minutes long for some people. That is not the bad part, the bad part is that there are people who will wait 10-15 minutes to get lunch and then they end up barely getting 10 minutes to eat, including me.

Last year, there were four lines you could wait in and now there are only three lines which makes those three lines even longer. The lines go almost halfway through the tables in the cafeteria which is just way too long.

I just think that another serving station should open up to prevent long lines. As it is right now, the lines are much too long and there just isn’t enough time to eat.

In conclusion, lunch at McNeil should not be shortened. There is no time to eat, no time to walk to and from lunch and no time to wait in the long lines. For these reasons, lunch should go back to having more time for lunch.
