With the school year coming to an end, the time for summer activities is a go. Although there is limited time for summer activities, here are the top five activities to look forward to.

5. In last place are amusement parks. In the dead of summer, when the temperatures are the hottest, standing in a line for hours on the hot asphalt is not the best time to be spending summer. Although roller coasters are objectively fun, the line to ride time ratio is not worth spending the summer. 

4. In the number 4 spot is kayaking or paddleboarding. If people hate the dust and humidity of hiking, then get in the water. With kayaking/paddleboarding, people can get the same exploration and discovery feeling of seeing new terrain, but not have to be as hot as they would be hiking. This is in the lower category however, as it can be a really tough upper body workout. 

3. Coming in third place and getting the bronze medal is outdoor concerts. Being able to hear live music from artists people love is a magical feeling, although with this feeling comes risks. Some of these risks include warm, expensive drinks, hot porta potties, and sweaty people all around. Although these are some of the downsides, the experience; especially if it’s headliners people love, is definitely worth the risks. 

2. Taking the silver medal is a pool party. This backyard activity is one for the ages. While being able to hang out with friends and family, people can also stay out of the summer heat by taking a dip in the pool. And when people aren’t in the pool, they can be eating food that was made on the grill. Another pro factor of having a backyard pool party is that a bathroom is within walking distance. The low risk factor, and the many hours of amusement that comes from it is why this takes the number two spot.

1. Getting the gold medal is the beach. This stereotypical summer day is one with many paths, from people building sand castles to people surfing, the beach gives a wide variety of activities for people to enjoy. If people just want to lay back and relax on a chair, they have nice white noise of the waves and seagulls to enjoy as they bask in the sun. Although this is the perfect summer day, the beach has little risks to watch out for including sand being everywhere, and the risk of sharks or jellyfish being near. But even with these risks the enjoyment is definitely worth it.
