Starbucks has recently dropped a small preview of what’s to come in their pre-summer additions. The preview includes a Unicorn Cakepop, and a Tropical Butterfly refresher, as well as some Horchata-inspired espressos.
Unicorn Cakepop 9/10
The Unicorn Cakepop is a fan-favorite, returning menu item. This treat consists of a vanilla cream fondant shell, surrounding a birthday cake flavored cake interior. This item has drawn in loads of attention due to its nostalgic, 2014 feel. Though mostly loved for the vibe, the flavor does not diminish its reputation. For birthday cake lovers, this is perfect.
Tropical Butterfly Refresher 6/10
Disappointing, but not terrible. The presentation is undeniably beautiful, however its flavor just doesn’t hold up to expectations. The popping boba is nice, introducing a different texture to the drink, but the flavors taste simple, there’s nothing special about the taste. This drink had lots of potential, due to the presentation and customer’s previous enjoyment of their popping boba; if only the flavor weren’t so bland.
These new items come with customer attention, and with this attention, mixed reviews aren’t surprising either. However everyone does seem to agree that this preview builds the excitement and anticipation for the new summer menu items.
