A Quiet Stormy Night
Dark clouds spread over the sky like a blanket
Threatening to scream and cry
The wind begins to sing its songs
And the sun is gone for the night
The dim light was relaxing
The trees flow with the harsh wind
The smell of the rain is in the air
The storm is coming.
Everyone is inside, hiding
Like a symphony, it begins
First the winds blow in rhythm
The rain starts to drip and builds up like flutes
Thunder dances with lightning like they have for centuries
I watch from inside
Following the rain stream down my window
The cold glass catches my breath, revealing fog
Lightning flashes, dilating my eyes
Yet, still so beautiful.
The night draws out with the storm
Clouds slowly moving away
Leaving the earth wet and refreshed
Returning the water it once stole
The sun peaks out
Making the cold wind warm
Rain still lingers in the air
And the birds still come out to sing their morning melodies.
