Maverick tennis headed down to San Antonio on Valentine’s Day to compete in the Edison Bear Invitational. The tournament hosted schools from all over Central Texas, however most were from the San Antonio area. In the middle of a long spring season, the Mavs looked for some impressive results to help get a good seeding for the district tournament in April.

After cruising through the main draw, freshman Jack Cohen won first place in the boy’s singles. Cohen beat last year’s 2A state champion in order to take the title.

The next best results came from mixed doubles pair of senior Sam Genty and sophomore Amanda Bsaibes, who made it to the semifinal round. Senior boy’s doubles pair of Sarang Bhadsavle and Jared Hahne also made it to the semi finals.

The girl’s doubles team of sophomore Serena Wu and junior Olivia Li made it to the quarterfinals along with boy’s doubles pair of senior Brandon Minns and junior Alex Minca.
