Three Meals to Try Before you Die

Home of the best crepes on the face of the earth.
Home of the best crepes on the face of the earth.

If you know me or have ever had a meal with me before, then you probably know that I enjoy my meals more than the average person.

Being the busy person I am, I don’t ever really have time to actually have a legitimate meal. Most of the time I just get by with CLIF bars or random snacks throughout the day. So, needless to say, when I have the chance to eat a full meal I almost always finish the whole thing and enjoy every last bite more than the bite before.

I could easily go on for days about one meal if it was really good. So, I want to share with you what some of my favorite meals are so that you can experience the same amazing feeling I get when I have an awesome meal.

First, my personal all-time favorite meal, the chicken florentine crepes at IHOP. I’m not even exaggerating when I say that I have cried over those things on more than one occasion, which were not my proudest moments, but still happened regardless.

They are perfectly cooked crepes filled with swiss cheese and tender chicken breast strips sauteed with spinach leaves, onions and mushrooms with light seasoning and topped with the best hollandaise sauce I have ever had.

Unfortunately, they don’t come with any sides, which would normally be a big deal for me because I love to have a variety of flavors on my plate. But these are so good that they make up for not having anything on the side, so I can let that one slide.

Next time you go to IHOP and are in the mood to try something different, go for the chicken florentine crepes. Even if you’re not a huge fan of onions or mushrooms, these are great because you can’t really taste them anyway since their taste is being masked by all the other spices and that amazing hollandaise sauce. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Next, the steak sirloin medallions at Maggiano’s. Although they are the second most expensive thing on the menu, they are definitely worth it. The only reason I was able to try them was because I got a gift card for my birthday that was the exact amount as that steak, so this isn’t the kind of meal you would be able to have every weekend unless you have a really good job or come from a wealthy family.

It’s more of a special-occasion kind of meal. The $25 buys you three sirloin medallions that are about the size of a baseball chopped in half topped with a special steak sauce, and a huge pile of gourmet mashed potatoes topped with fried onion curls that are absolutely delectable.

I have only had this meal twice, but both times I got a high-five from my waiter for finishing the whole thing because it really is that good. Even though I was miserably full afterward, it was so worth it.

Lastly, the grilled chicken sandwich at Monument Cafe in Georgetown. My best friend Quinn introduced me to this restaurant last Christmas, and it’s great. Everything there is fresh, they even have a garden in the front of the restaurant displaying the fresh greens.

The sandwich is on a wheat bun and has herbed mayo, lettuce, tomato and cheese. They also give you the option to choose a side of homemade french fries, onion rings, sweet potato fries, or veggie fries. With mine I had the homemade french fries, which are really more like fancy potato chips.

Everything about the meal tasted wholesome and delicious. The chicken was perfectly cooked and the bread was really soft. The combination of flavors was awesome, every bite was like a flavor explosion.

I’m really looking forward to going back there again soon because the whole thing was just a really pleasant experience. The employees were friendly and helpful, the restaurant looked clean and was efficiently run, and the food was amazing. I definitely recommend it.
