Close Loss Against Georgetown

Lady Mavs lacrosse loses 7-8

The Lady Mavs lost a close game against Georgetown High School when the Lady Eagles made the winning penalty shot that wrapped up the game.
“The referee’s calls were a bit frustrating, but we were able to shake it off and keep playing,” senior captain Nicole Schiller said.

The girls went into the game thinking that the team they’d be playing against was pretty hardcore, and it sure was.

“It was a tough game and lasted longer than I expected,” sophomore Jace Murphy said. “It was definitely difficult.”

“We went back and forth for a while, but eventually lost to a penalty shot,” Schiller said. “The Georgetown girls were really nice and had some skilled players, but overall it was the referee’s calls that brought us down.”

The team’s next contest was a double-header March 3, where they played against Stony Point’s varsity team for the first game and then the junior varsity team for the second game.
