Maverick Choir is hosting their annual Cocoa & Carols on Nov. 20 at 7:00 pm in the cafeteria.
Cocoa & Carols is a holiday special where The Maverick Show Choir showcases their caroling music. It gives a chance for both choir groups, rhapsody and musical, to perform their setlist.
Show choir vet, alto Katherine Kenny is excited to perform for the first time in Cocoa & Carols.
“I’m excited to perform in musicals for the first time and to see how the new groups sound this year.” Kenny said. “I’m hoping [Cocoa & Carols] brings a feeling of nostalgia and comfort hearing the classic carols musical performance, but also I hope it brings smiles and some fun hearing the fun twists rhapsody puts on their pieces.”
Hot cocoa is also served during the performance as it is a holiday favorite during a traditional season of joy and light. Hot cocoa is served to “encapsulate the wintery/christmas” spirit.
Choir Director, Wendi Burwinkel, has been hosting Cocoa & Carols for the past 10 years.
Ms. Burwinkel puts on the annual choir event to kickoff the corralling season for the show choir welcoming the holiday season to everyone in the community.
“It is a fun evening of music, traditional and new carols.” Burwinkel said. “[Cocoa & Carols] is meant for everyone to feel excited for the holidays.”
We hope to see everyone there in support of the Maverick Show Choir, while enjoying a cup of hot cocoa for the holiday season.
