MavTheatre Company will perform A Midsummer Night’s Dream on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the McNeil Blackbox. Doors open 15 minutes prior to curtain, and no strollers will be allowed inside.
This reimagined version of Shakespeare’s timeless comedy transports audiences to an enchanted forest near Athens, where love, jealousy, and magic collide. Four young lovers become entangled in chaos when the mischievous fairy Puck uses a love potion on the wrong people. Meanwhile, fairy royalty Oberon and Titania clash in a magical dispute, leading Titania to fall comically in love with a donkey-headed amateur actor named Bottom. The tangled spells are eventually reversed, resulting in reconciliations, rightful pairings, and a hilariously over-the-top play within the play.
“I saw a run-through and it was honestly entertaining,” said senior Rayyan Alam. “The cast is having a great time, and it makes the whole thing really fun to watch.”
