To kick off their world tour the often-labeled ‘dad-rock’ band, Kings Of Leon performed at The Moody Center, where the three brothers executed a stimulating and hypnotizing show.
The opener was Phantogram, an indie band primarily known for their hits “Black Out Days” and “When I’m Small.” The duo had a captivating stage presence, the lead singer Sarah Barthelher’s intense vocals and frequent head-banging were a great gateway to buzz excitement throughout the crowd before the headliners began their set.
An hour after Phantogram’s set finished, Kings of Leon stepped in. The band’s performance did not disappoint. With flashing exciting visuals such as lasers and on-screen montages, Kings of Leon embraced the art of music with their enthralling moves and energetic singing. The first song they performed, “Ballerina Radio” is a release from their newest album, its beginning has a great gradual build and the screens throughout the arena presented the lyrics allowing the crowd to sing along.
The band’s setlist often transitioned from old to new songs and included a few live debuts, captivating the audience and leaving a lasting impression. The last song performed was their 2008 hit “Use Somebody” which echoed on radio stations throughout the 2010s; after over two and a half hours, it was an incredible ending for an amazing show.
