Nearly a decade after Disney’s classic Zootopia film was released, a sequel has finally premiered. This new movie introduces new characters, such as a beaver named Nibbled Maplestick, and the Lynxly family, them being new main characters. This film also gives us an origin story to the creation of Zootopia, introducing the relevance of reptiles and the lack thereof.

The new film has returning main characters Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps, who become more relevant in this movie. Aside from returning characters, there are many new characters that add to the overall plot. Every character was original and relevant to the film. The entire reptile species was new to this film, giving viewers a new look at designs and behaviors in the film.

The plot was very original and entertaining. In comparison to the first film, it was more intriguing and engaging. It kept viewers interested throughout the duration of the film. With many plot twists and entertainment, the movie is overall a very good sequel. Standards are typically low when it comes to sequels, but this particular movie managed to keep the Zootopia universe strong.

The visuals and coloring of the movie are very alluring. Every character has a different look, and each building has a different shape. Each setting in the film had its own look. This film gives viewers a deeper look into the weather walls, which divide Zootopia into different environments to better assist each animal’s needs. Each section has a different visual, all very colorful and coordinated.
World Building 5/5
The new film definitely built on what was previously known as Zootopia. With the introduction of all new settings, characters, backstories and previous plotholes, this movie fills all gaps. It manages to keep the previous enjoyment while still keeping the new plots interesting.
