Trippin’ Up the Tigers

Boys basketball wins last home game against Stony Point 50-30

It was an intense game, but the Mavericks continued to rein in on the court while the fans cheered on. On the other side of the gym, the Stony Point Tigers were waiting to strike. The gym filled with collective oohs and ahhs as the Mav seniors dunked on the competition, the scoreboard read 50-30. The Mavs had won their last home game of the 2016-2017 season.
“It was a good night tonight,” junior DJ Kane said. “It was Senior Night tonight, too, and it felt great to win. It was good for the seniors to win.”
Not only did the night end in victory for the boys, but it ended in praise for the senior Mavericks – especially for VJ Bailey, who committed to play for Oregon.
“We did a good job, the defense was really good tonight.” Coach Darrell Hagemann said. “We controlled the tempo of the game.”
The Mavericks are currently fourth place, tied with Westwood. The next game will be Tuesday, Feb. 14 against the Dragons at Round Rock High School at 7 p.m.
